But Hercules did awesome. I couldn't have asked for a better first ride. He remained calm and we finally did get two laps around the round pen before I dismounted and called it.
I am so very proud of my boy. And I think he was pretty proud of himself as well.

Cliff, I am very impressed to see what you are doing with Hercules. He looks awsome, I get chills looking at him. And to see a total stranger (Erika) walk up and take his lead is kind of emotional for me to see. This does so much for the wild horse name, and just wanted to say thanks for what you do. It just goes to show us what these intelligent & devoted Mustangs will accomplish in the right hands. I was lucky to witness this first ride. I found it so touching that Hercule's main concern seemed to be Cliff's safety. He was especially careful to maintain a wide stance and be prepared to maintain his balance no matter what position Cliff was in. In a previous session Cliff was standing in the stirrup on one side before mounting. The weather decided that was great time to bring thunder and lightening into the picture. You could see from Hercule's eyes he was frightened by the thunder, but he kept still and immediately responded to Cliff's reassurances. The trusting bond was obvious.
